Tropico 3 Demo Review

Tropico was a great game on the PC for years. It was a lot of fun to build your island and career as a island dictator. All of that seems to be present in this console edition while also the controls are ok but the mouse will be sorely missed if things remain as spread out on the xbox 360 controller as they are now. Ultimately the game is fun but the demo is a little glitchy and won't respond to your commands every time. This is not much of a worry though because this is what the pc demo to the last game Tropico 2 was as well. So no worries there.
If you like sim and city building games with a little rts flavor added this is a great title for first timers as well. Much of what you did in the PC versions of years past remain. You build homes and industry, manage happiness levels, control the military, and play at politics. You can manage a secret swiss bank account and you can send your police after your political and military enemies to do away with threats to your power. You also can still use edicts to help social and political or welfare problems. Not a new invention but a good spin of the wheel is to be found when this full game releases. If you never really have played a game like Tropico, download this demo, you may just fall in love.
The title should be seen as a attention getter for console gamers that really haven't been exposed to titles like this one. The game looks pretty good and definately looks like it will feature some great campaign story lines to play through. So overall this one gets a tenative 3.89 out of 5. The score could get a lot higher if the game fixes a few of the minor headaches present in the demo.

Left 4 Dead 2 Scavenger Mode

Well the game is finally here and boycotters beware, this game is a blast. The game still suffers from persistent server lag and can now be avoided by someone with a great connection hosting a game and using local server selection. The survivor mode is nice but is more of the same live as long as you can style game play and the campaigns are excellently designed. The bridge finale is a complete sprint to the finish which is so fun it was only right there be an achievement for getting it done in 3 minutes or less.
The real point where Left 4 Dead 2 shines is the new game mode scavenger. Its 4 x 4 like versus, which is also more of the same, but is like a crazy chess match with all kind of new moves. The strategy of this mode is intense and very fast paced. The environments are great and there is no shortage of new ways to take down the survivors or to thwart the infecteds plans of your crushing failure. This mode offers so much new replay value that it is a worthy game onto itself. The best out of 3 rounds structure is also so much fun. It adds to the basic win lose structure of versus and makes for some very intense competition.
Rounds are set to get to 16 max cans of fuel and to stop the other team of survivors from getting as many cans as yours.
The new special infected are absolutely ass kicking goodness turned up to 11. The spitter is fantastic for scavenger mode as the acidic goo is fame inducing and very good for foiling the plans of the survivors.
All in all this new Left 4 Dead is worth a score of 4.70 out of 5. This one could have scored nearer to a perfect 5 but the server issues that still exist from the last game don't bode well. This time valve, if you need to add to this game, add content don't make useless game breaking changes. This may already be game of the year. Though fanboys of Modern Combat 2 and Assassins Creed 2 will have ssomething to say about that.

Lost Planet 1 demo review

Lost Planet 1 was released in 2006-7 and was a good game I am certain. This demo proves that the series has tremendous potential. The game has nice visual appeal and the snow effects are ok. If anything the game is an interesting spin on the shooter wheel. The gameplay is solid and using the many guns and the mechs are a last. Fun is definately going to be had while making a go at the sotry in this sci-fi cinematic shooter. The level contruction is unique and the most interesting thing that seems apparent here is that this game is FPS at heart but is in fact third person. The game has minor camera angle issues because of this and definately suffers when you are in tight spaces inside a mech suit. Yet the gameplay is riveting. For as old a game is this is now 3 years later, it holds up to the 360 standard for change and gameplay. It is also worth mentioning that this game was a Capcom releaase and does not suffer from their bizarre control schemes that usually ruin gameplay. This is a very approachable shooter regardless of view.
The score is even higher here for making some bad ass enemy creatures to take on with a final score of 4.11 out of 5. Coming soon will be the demo review of Lost Planet 2. The game is solid whores, so strap up or strap on and get down to business for some good achievement whore gaming goodness. This is one of the better demos on live if you are ok with 3rd person shooters. If not you will have missed out on a great story and some fun cinematic gameplay.

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 demo review

The game looks better than last time and plays better especially with the addition of fusion special attacks. The camera angles are better but still need rethinking. The fighting is a little odd as your punches often land without it appearing on screen that it has. Also the story line is appearing to have shaped up very nicely. As far as demos go this one is ideal and can be played as either the pro- registration side or anti registration side. I chose according to who had Wolverine and who had Spiderman which made things of coarse difficult because they are on two different sides of the fight. The demo is a lot of fun and watching Deadpool make an ass of himself. Overall the demo is worth a score of 3.65 out of 5. The score would have been much higher if the persistent camera issues and movement glitches from last time had been fixed this go around.

Star Wars The Force Unleashed.

The demo is fun enough. You get to throw stuff with mind/jedi powers......Mind bullets Kyle......Yes this game is ok.....not great but ok......The graphics are alright but do little to really impress. However you are a baddy and pack a bit of potential woop ass around everywhere you go. So that semi-poor grpahics issues is easily forgotten. Who needs enemies when you have friends like these.....That's right you know who you are. As far as whore seeking potential this one has easy written all over it. But Star Wars fans do not dispair. You have more to do in this game than abuse force powers and rush storm troopers. Wait....a Minute...No you don't......Grab your light sabers and Luke Skywalker lunchpals. We are getting the hell outta here. The trick is to allow a certain amount of dissappointment and annoyance...Then take some deep breathes and just relax.. This is an ok game... Not nearly the game that it was hyped to be and promised to be. But its solid Star Wars injenctions. Let the force be with you. Score of 3.39 out of 5. But the problems are present in the demo. The final game is said to be pretty good so don't be to upset. The demo is just a very small sample of the story and gameplay features. But there really is not much to get worked up about. Sorry Star Wars fans., This is not a good substitute for a new franchise movie. Oh well.

Dragon Ball Raging Blast Demo Review

This game has some interesting values. The levels and graphics are bright and clean and the characters very well represented. I must admit I am not a huge fan of the series as a fighting game or as a cartoon. The truth is that I like fighting games. Sort of a guilty pleasure. (No Bearcat not like an Abe Lincoln and some cookies and milk). I mean pleasure in the less facial hair and more delicious way. The way that makes people who like fighting games but don't have the skill set of being able to play games with confused and annoying contrlols. The game is fun because its so absolutley bizarre. And the demo allows a hand full of playable characters so you get a good sample of wierd and fun design.
Ultimately the controls make the gameplay suffer. The score here is a modest 2.90 out of 5. The final version of the game likely is better but the game also suffered from camera angle issues so the score represents that as well.
PS-----The Issues of consistency here are the same as with Bearcat69, Ragesevenqb, and Hotshell 187: Yes the three fat Amigos from the tournament site have a graphics and gameplay problem too. Too much joystick and not enough play.>>

Wolfenstein Demo Review

This is not like the last two Wolfenstein games. It is much more like the later levels of the first PC Wolfenstein that created this great franchise. The ultimate fun is that you can kill nazi's in so many visually great ways. Disintegrating them down to their skulls or skeleton is a blast and the basic guns create a greate amount of splatter and havoc.

This game is ultimately focused on the damage you do with outlandish weaponry. If you attack the hell out of the nazis they will counter attack and let you mow them all down with plasma cutters and all kinds of wild guns. This game is as all Wolfenstein games tend to be, very dark. But this time AI character or NPC's are much more interesting than what past versions have had. Also this time around you pack special abilities that can be upgraded throughout the game. So this time the gameplay has some new tweaks. These are not bad changes because as the demo correctly displays the game is alot of fun.

The demo score is a 3.89 out of 5. The game demo really only looses out because the cut-scenes are so much more pretty and awesome looking than the actual gameplay.
The full game has been out for a while now so you can get this one a little cheaper. For a good maybe slightly cheaper shooter this one is ideal........PS> Bearcat69 is right Sheet Pizzas are one of the best food related inventions but Hotshell is even more correct in saying that Chinese food offers more for your buck and tastes sinfully delicious. i.e ....I promise not all gamers are fat, socially shut in, nerds. But even if most are........that's not that bad a thing after all>.....Is IT?
