Tropico 3 Demo Review

Tropico was a great game on the PC for years. It was a lot of fun to build your island and career as a island dictator. All of that seems to be present in this console edition while also the controls are ok but the mouse will be sorely missed if things remain as spread out on the xbox 360 controller as they are now. Ultimately the game is fun but the demo is a little glitchy and won't respond to your commands every time. This is not much of a worry though because this is what the pc demo to the last game Tropico 2 was as well. So no worries there.
If you like sim and city building games with a little rts flavor added this is a great title for first timers as well. Much of what you did in the PC versions of years past remain. You build homes and industry, manage happiness levels, control the military, and play at politics. You can manage a secret swiss bank account and you can send your police after your political and military enemies to do away with threats to your power. You also can still use edicts to help social and political or welfare problems. Not a new invention but a good spin of the wheel is to be found when this full game releases. If you never really have played a game like Tropico, download this demo, you may just fall in love.
The title should be seen as a attention getter for console gamers that really haven't been exposed to titles like this one. The game looks pretty good and definately looks like it will feature some great campaign story lines to play through. So overall this one gets a tenative 3.89 out of 5. The score could get a lot higher if the game fixes a few of the minor headaches present in the demo.
